RoboS

Robotic Surgical Training Simulator

RoboS

A comprehensive robotic surgery training platform for developing core skills, procedural confidence, and team-based workflows.

RoboS is a high-fidelity robotic surgery training simulator designed to support structured, competency-based education across multiple surgical specialties. Developed by VirtaMed, RoboS closely replicates the look, feel, and workflow of robotic-assisted surgery, enabling surgeons and trainees to build core robotic skills in a safe, controlled simulation environment.

The simulator combines anatomically accurate models, realistic tissue behaviour, and advanced haptic feedback to support both basic skills acquisition and full procedural training. RoboS allows learners to practise robotic instrument control, camera navigation, clutching, suturing, and complex procedural steps while receiving objective, performance-based feedback.

With an expanding library of robotic tasks and clinical procedures, RoboS supports training programs in standardising robotic education, objectively assessing performance, and accelerating progression from simulation to the operating theatre.

RoboS Robotic Surgery Training Modules

RoboS™ Fundamental Skills

RoboS™ Fundamental Skills provides structured training in the core principles of robotic surgery, allowing trainees to develop precision, coordination, and confidence at the console. Users practise essential techniques such as clutching, camera control, non-dominant hand use, and instrument manipulation in a controlled virtual environment.

The module focuses on building strong foundational skills required for safe and efficient robotic surgery, helping trainees adapt to the absence of haptic feedback while improving spatial awareness, dexterity, and workflow efficiency.

RoboS™ Advanced Suturing

RoboS™ Advanced Suturing enables trainees to refine complex suturing techniques specific to robotic surgery. The module supports practice of continuous suturing, intracorporeal knot tying, and advanced needle handling, with objective performance feedback to guide improvement.

By progressing from basic to advanced suturing tasks, trainees develop the precision, efficiency, and consistency required for demanding robotic procedures, supporting a smoother transition from simulation to clinical practice.

RoboS™ Team Training

RoboS™ Team Training supports collaborative training between the console surgeon and bedside assistant, integrating robotic and laparoscopic workflows. Using the sensorised abdomen platform, teams practise trocar placement, instrument positioning, and coordinated procedural steps.

This module enhances communication, role awareness, and procedural flow within the operating room, helping surgical teams build confidence and efficiency in real-world robotic surgery environments.
